Dear SIA Community, I hope this letter finds you all in good health and  high energy as we reflect on the wonderful events that unfolded within our school community over the past week, such as our school Fiesta, which I am still buzzing about. Firstly, I would like to extend a big thank you to our Executive Principal, Ms. Janet, for her exemplary leadership and for embodying the spirit of ‘I in Kind’ by engaging directly with our learners. Your dedication to supporting our empathetic learning environment does not go unnoticed. Let’s see what the learners had to say. Please click here. Our recent school fiesta was nothing short of spectacular! From the electrifying talent showcased by our learners to the vibrant atmosphere filled with laughter and joy, it was a day to remember. A special congratulations to Red Velvet – Shaun, Emily, and Priyanka – for their remarkable performance and securing third place. Your talent and hard work are an inspiration to us all. I would also like to thank the community for such an impressive level of attendance and for taking time to come and speak with me as that is what makes SIA great and I hope makes us all feel connected as an SIA family. Additionally, International Day was a beautiful celebration of diversity and cultural exchange. Witnessing learners proudly donning traditional attire from their respective home countries was a heartwarming sight. I am not sure Mr Danny’s Union Jack jacket could be seen as the traditional dress of the UK but it definitely gave us all a laugh. The day was a testament to the richness of our school community and the value of embracing our differences. #Inclusivity In our secondary assembly, we had the honour of celebrating the outstanding achievements of our High Achievers, with a spotlight on Farah Mamoun, who attained the highest mark in the Middle East for Pearson Edexcel GCE Psychology 2022-2023. Farah, your dedication and perseverance serve as a shining example to us all. Congratulations on this remarkable accomplishment! You are amazing and we are all so very proud of you. Thank you for joining me for refreshments and a chat afterward as this really was a big highlight of the week. Furthermore, a huge thank you to Ms. Michelle for organising a fantastic Careers Fair, providing invaluable insights and opportunities for our learners to explore their future pathways. Your efforts are greatly appreciated, and it’s inspiring to see our learners engage with such enthusiasm and curiosity. Last but not least, a special thank you to all the parents who joined us for the Teddy bear picnic. Your presence meant the world to our learners, and it was a pleasure to see families come together in support of our school community. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting each of you and capturing some wonderful memories through photos. As we continue on our journey of learning and growth, let us carry forward the spirit of unity, celebration, and excellence that defines our SIA HPL family. Together, we are achieving great things. #BeTheBestYouCanBe #SIAFamily Have a great weekend Take care Mr. James Batts | Principal Read More

Dear SIA Community, I hope you are all well and that the rain has not created too much disruption for you. In this week’s letter, I would like to take a moment to reflect on and recognise the outstanding efforts of our PE team and the incredible sporting enrichment that takes place here at SIA. Our PE team demonstrates unparalleled dedication to fostering a culture of sportsmanship and skill development, ensuring that our learners not only excel in their chosen sports but also derive joy and fulfillment from participating in them. The list of our achievements in various EISSA competitions is truly remarkable. From cross country, swimming, basketball, netball, and football, our learners have consistently showcased their talent and our HPL VAAs of perseverance, resilience and teamwork. We’re immensely proud of our accomplishments, including: Securing 3rd place overall in cross country, with numerous gold, silver, and bronze medals across all age groups. Emerging victorious in the U10 boys and U18 boys football categories. Achieving 3rd place in U16 girls and U14 boys football. Dominating the U10 girls swimming team, clinching the top spot at the swimming gala hosted by RAK Academy. As we look forward, there are more exciting EISSA events on the horizon, including athletics in February, cricket in March, basketball in April, badminton in May, and swimming in both February and May. Our training sessions, held before school, during break times, and on Monday afternoons, reflect our commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in sports. Our annual Sports Days were spread across the week, scaffolded to different age groups, and served as a vibrant celebration of athleticism and camaraderie. We were thrilled to witness the enthusiasm and competitive spirit displayed by our learners during these events. I would also like to thank all the parents that came to support as it was lovely to have you in school and I hope you enjoyed our Sports Days. Additionally, the Teachers vs. Year 11 football match and the Staff vs. Parents team games afternoon were fab and further showed our community oriented focus. I would just like to say a big thank you to Dr Loria, one of our parents from our Friends of SIA group, for delivering invaluable first aid-related sessions to our learners. Thank you for sharing your expertise and helping us promote safety and well-being within our community. We look forward to continuing the learning process with you via our extensive programme. Lastly for this week, we were blown away by the incredible submissions pouring in for the SIA talent show! The abundance of talent and creativity is simply amazing. Get ready for an unforgettable showcase of passion and skills! #BeTheBestYouCanBe #HPL #AmazingPETeam #Preppy.Principal #ScholarsShines Take Care Mr. James Batts | Principal   Read More

SIA Newsletter 10 – Secondary

Dear SIA Community, I hope this letter finds you well and that you have had a lovely weekend. I am writing this letter looking back at the amazing Sports Days which took place last week; from the Foundation Stage one on Monday, through to the Primary events and finishing with a wonderful Secondary Sports Day on Thursday. Beyond the physical benefits of sports, our Sports Days provide a platform for showcasing and developing High Performance Learning (HPL) skills. Our learners utilised a broad spectrum of personal and interpersonal attributes that contributed to their overall well-being. These skills include physical fitness, teamwork, leadership, communication, resilience, adaptability, and sporting behaviour – it was lovely when a learner’s peers in Year 2 gave them a huge cheer and a massive round of applause for completing the egg and spoon race and when two competitors gave each other a big hug at the end of the relay race. The Sports Days were also a chance for our learners to display leadership and responsibility. Sports Days involved our learners taking on leadership roles, whether as team captains, event organisers, or referees. These responsibilities instilled a sense of leadership and accountability in our learners and is was lovely to see the younger learners responding to the direction and encouraging words of our learners leaders. Successful sports days serve as an ideal setting for learners to display and cultivate these essential life skills. Of course, the physical aspect of sports days cannot be overlooked. Engaging in physical activities promotes a healthy lifestyle and enhances overall well-being. Regular exercise has been linked to improved mental health, increased focus, and better academic performance. We hope that the Sports Days last week have given everyone a boost and will encourage some of our learners to maybe join an athletics team or just to get out and be active. Thank you very much for those of you who made it along to show your support; it was amazing to see Foundation Stage parents dressed in their child’s team colours! #BeTheBestYouCanBe #HighPerfomanceLearning #Preppy.Principal #SIASportsDays   Take Care Mr. James Batts | Principal   Read More

Dear SIA Community, I hope this week’s letter finds you well and ready for a great weekend. It has been a delightful week here at SIA, and I would like to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the parents who actively participated in various activities, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere around school. A special thank you goes out to those parents who dedicated their time to support reading, attend celebration assemblies, and joined our HPL workshop. Your presence and involvement are invaluable, and they play a crucial role in fostering a strong sense of community within SIA, which as you know is something we aim for here at SIA. The HPL philosophy, along with the Values, Attitudes, and Attributes (VAAs) and the Advanced Performance characteristics (ACPs), is integral to our educational approach. It is heartening to see the commitment of both parents, teachers and learners to this philosophy. Working collaboratively in partnership creates a synergy between home and school enhancing the overall learning experience and significantly contributes to positive outcomes. I urge the whole community to spend time to learning about HPL as we are all learning and growing in this wonderful community. I would like to thank my leadership team and our HPL lead, Ms. Heather, for organising and delivering the workshop which from the feedback I received was very informative. I would like to highlight a particularly powerful and touching meeting I had with a group of parents this week. These parents shared their observations of the impact of HPL on their children, highlighting moments where they witnessed increased empathy displayed by their children at home. Such feedback is invaluable and reinforces the positive influence that our shared commitment to HPL is having on the holistic development of our learners. One particularly heartwarming moment was hearing parents describe how their children actively talk about and demonstrate empathy in their daily lives. It is moments like these that affirm the significance of our collective efforts in shaping not just academic success but also the character and values of our learners – Empathy, learning and leadership at the heart of what we do. Our weekly ‘I in kind’ activity added an extra layer of joy to the week. The enthusiasm and creativity displayed by our learners in sharing their thoughts and experiences was inspiring as always. Let’s take a moment to celebrate the voices of our learners, please click here to watch. Thank you once again for your ongoing support and commitment to creating a nurturing and enriching environment. Together, as a united SIA community, we are making a lasting impact on the lives of our learners – ‘Life Ready’ Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and looking forward to more collaborative moments ahead. #BeTheBestYouCanBe #HPL #WeAreScholars #LifeReady #Preppy.Principal Take Care Mr. James Batts | Principal Read More
