Dear SIA Community,
We hope this letter finds you well and you are looking forward to the weekend. As a community we were excited about our recent house event that unfolded with great enthusiasm and vigour. Under the guidance of Miss Heather, Ayesha Lauren, and Rosie, our house event aimed to ignite a spark of competition and camaraderie among our learners, inspiring them to earn more house points through active participation and teamwork. It gives us immense pleasure to share with you the highlights of this memorable occasion.
The event was a tapestry of excitement, featuring six captivating stations meticulously designed to challenge the VAA’s of agility and teamwork of our participants. From the limbo, demanding precision and flexibility, to the blind ball basket, which required utmost focus and coordination, each station offered a unique test of skill and collaboration. We were delighted to witness our fab teachers wholeheartedly embracing the spirit of the event, actively participating and earning house points along the way. What truly set the event aglow was the electric atmosphere of anticipation and camaraderie that permeated throughout from the start of the day. As teachers and learners alike engaged in friendly competition, it was evident that our shared commitment to fostering a vibrant house culture was stronger than ever.
The highlight of the day for me was undoubtedly came during the Three-Legged Race, where teachers showcased not only their competitive spirit but also their unwavering dedication to nurturing a sense of community within our school. It was a moment that encapsulated the essence of our collective efforts in building our thriving SIA team.
In EYFS, there has been lots of exciting learning it has been buzzing every time I have walked through. In FS1, our little ones have been immersed in creativity (Creative Carla) as they explored different animal habitats through drawing. Using the whiteboard and pen, they have been busy sketching various environments, demonstrating their imaginative prowess. Additionally, learners have been constructing their own modes of transport to ferry animals and food around the farm, showcasing their ingenuity and problem-solving skills. FS2 has been buzzing with excitement this week as we initiated the transition to Year 1. Learners had the unique opportunity to experience a lesson taught by a Year 1 teacher in an actual Year 1 classroom. Their behaviour and engagement was exemplary, making the transition both smooth and enjoyable for all involved.
In Years 1 to 3, we had the pleasure of celebrating our High-Performance Learning (HPL) learners of the week. It’s truly heartening to witness the empathy and flexible thinking displayed by our learners, not only within their own year groups but also across the school community. Their consistent display of creativity and adaptability in lessons is a testament to their growth and achievements, and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts. Meanwhile, in Years 4 to 6, our learners had an enriching experience with the visit of the book fair. It was heartwarming to see their enthusiasm for reading as they explored the wide array of books available. Additionally, KS1 learners were treated to a special visit by Hilda Youssef, the author of ‘Snowy and Zoey,’ who read her book to them. Witnessing the empathy and joy our learner experienced during this session was truly inspiring.
Finally, In Secondary learners engaged in an HPL Skills Quiz this week, designed to reinforce their understanding of our Values, Attitudes, and Attributes (VAA’s) and Advanced Cognitive Performance characteristics (ACP’s). Through collaboration between learners and teachers, the quiz provided an opportunity for everyone to deepen their knowledge and appreciation of these important concepts. On the sporting front, our Girls Basketball team from the PE department showcased their dedication and teamwork as they prepared to hit the court in the EISSA Basketball competition. Their commitment to honing their skills and supporting one another exemplifies the spirit of collaboration and perseverance that we strive to instill in all our learners.
