How old must my child be to start school?

Students in Foundation 1 must be 3 years by 31st August.

The school offers learning from Foundation up to Year 13 (A and AS levels).

We follow the English National Curriculum for England and Wales enriched with the Cambridge Curriculum programme of study, the standard for International British education. We are one of the only two schools in Sharjah approved by BSME (British Schools Of Middle East) and accredited by BSO (British Schools of Overseas), which further aligns us with the UK school models, levels and systems. The academic foundation of our school is the Cambridge model for teaching and learning. 

We offer students a rigorous programme for learners to progress from one stage to the next supported by teaching and learning that challenges students to think deeply.

The majority of our teachers are from the UK. We hire teachers internationally and locally to find the best practitioners from around the globe.

All of our teachers hold full university teaching degrees. Our staff is hired based on their ability to create engaging learning environments for SIA students.

Our School Timings are:

7:15am to 12:15pm – Foundation 1 & 2 (Monday to Thursday)
7:15am to 2:15pm – Years 1 to 13 (Monday to Thursday)

The class size is capped at 24 for EYFS 1 & 2, and the class size is capped at 28 for Year 1 to 13.

Yes, we have teaching assistants from Foundation Stage 1 up to Year 2, 

Yes, we provide bus transport to most areas in Sharjah, Ajman and some areas in Dubai.

We do not conduct a formal test, however, each prospective student is required to complete an assessment to determine whether they will be able to effectively engage with the school programme at SIA.
▪ FS1–FS2 – Play-based assessment
▪ Year 1–Year 2 – Paper-based assessment
▪ Year 3–Year 12 – CAT4 assessment (Please note that we do not accept admissions for Year 11 and Year 13)

Arabic is introduced in Foundation 2. French is introduced in Year 4.

Yes, we offer complimentary teacher-led activities as well as paid external activities provided by our service partners. ECAs run after school dismissal from 2:20 pm to 3:20 pm.
