Scholars International Academy

SIA Newsletter 9 – Secondary

Dear SIA Community,

Welcome to Term 3: Embracing Excellence Together

As we embark on Term 3 of our academic year, I am delighted to welcome back our parents, staff, and most importantly, our remarkable learners. The vibrant energy that fills our corridors after the break reminds us of the special community, we have built together at Scholars International Academy.

This term brings with it both exciting opportunities and important academic milestones. Our GCSE and A-level learnerss are entering a crucial period as they prepare for their forthcoming examinations. We recognise that this can be a challenging time, filled with both anticipation and pressure. Please know that our dedicated teachers and support staff are committed to providing every resource, guidance, and encouragement needed to help our learners navigate this journey successfully. Remember that examinations, while important, are simply opportunities for our learners to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have been cultivating throughout their academic journey.

To better support our families during this period, we have scheduled several Curriculum Coffee Mornings throughout the term. These sessions will provide valuable insights into examination processes, revision techniques, and wellbeing strategies. They also offer an excellent opportunity for parents to connect with subject specialists and address any questions or concerns. Details of dates and topics can be found here:

I would also like to kindly remind all parents to complete the re-enrolment process at their earliest convenience. Timely re-enrolment helps us ensure a smooth transition and accurate planning for classes and resources. If you have any questions or need assistance with the process, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Parent Relations Executive, Ms Radhika, pre@sia.ae who is here to support you every step of the way.

I am particularly excited to announce Mr Chris, our Head of P.E. will be leading on our House system this term. The SIA house initiative aims to foster a stronger sense of belonging and healthy competition among our learners. It will feature some new inter- house sporting events and academic challenges, allowing learners to earn points for their respective houses while developing important life skills.

Speaking of sporting events, our calendar is brimming with fixtures and tournaments that showcase the athletic talents of our learners. From swimming galas to football tournaments, there are numerous opportunities for our young athletes to shine and for our community to come together in support and celebration.

As the academic year draws to a close, we also look forward to our graduation ceremonies – moments of immense pride as we celebrate the achievements of our learners and their readiness to embark on new chapters in their educational journey. More details will follow regarding these closer to the time.

During this potentially stressful examination period, I call upon our entire community – parents, teachers, and learners alike – to rally together in support of our learners. A kind word, a moment of patience, or simply being present can make all the difference to a learner feeling the weight of expectations. At SIA, we are more than just an educational institution; we are a family that stands together, especially during challenging times.

Let us make Term 3 a testament to our commitment to excellence, compassion, and community spirit. Together, we can ensure that every SIA learner not only achieves academic success but also develops the resilience and confidence to thrive in an ever- changing world.

Kind Regards,

Ms. Janice Butterworth | Acting Principal
