SIA Newsletter 7 – EYFS

Dear SIA Community,

Welcome to our latest edition of the school newsletter! As we embark on another exciting fortnight and prepare for Ramadan, we are thrilled to share with you the wonderful achievements, upcoming events, and important updates from our vibrant school community. Your continued support and involvement play a crucial role in our learners’ success, and we look forward to celebrating many more milestones together.

The annual school Fiesta took place last weekend alongside SIA’s first MUN Conference. Both events were very successful and showcased the incredible talents and dedication of our learners. The Fiesta was filled with vibrant performances and engaging activities that brought our community together. Meanwhile, the MUN Conference provided a platform for learners to demonstrate their debating skills, global awareness, and leadership qualities. We are immensely proud of everyone’s hard work in order to make these events happen and the participation of all! Big thanks to Mr. Robert for the MUN and Ms. Meera and the Fiesta committee for all their efforts which enrich our school.

Further successes recently came with the SIA Sports Teams winning a multitude of trophies and accolades in the EISSA games last week. We are incredibly proud of all the teams that represented our school and more details about this are further in this week’s newsletter. This week, Ms. Noorhan held an interactive parents’ workshop on “AI and How to Harness.” It was a superb session and was very well received by those who attended. We will look at running this again later in the year. Continuing our theme of curriculum events for parents, we are scheduled to run our next session on Wednesday, 18th February, which will be on “Phonics and Read, Write, Inc.” Ms. Esther and Ms. Daisy are hosting this, and it will no doubt be very popular. Therefore, if you wish to learn more about the SIA approach to teaching your child phonics, please sign up on the link below.

A polite reminder that all learners should be wearing the correct SIA uniform issued by the school. Recently, we have seen learners mixing and matching PE with school attire or dressing in different coloured trousers and jackets. Our SIA uniform promotes equality by reducing peer pressure and bullying related to clothing choices. It fosters a sense of community and school pride and simplifies morning routines for families. Uniforms also prepare our learners for professional dress codes in the future. Please help us by reinforcing this at home and ensuring school-issued uniforms are worn every day.

Important notice of date change! Following feedback from parents, we have decided to reschedule the KS3 Extravaganza “From Vision to Expression” to Thursday, 27th February. Doors open at 10:30am with the Extravaganza commencing at 11:00 am. The overwhelming feedback from parents is that Thursday is a preferable date compared to the original Saturday evening. As this is the first time we will be undertaking this event, and we require both learner and parental engagement, we feel this is a much better option. We will welcome your feedback after the event.

Finally, I would like to share the short podcast below. A recurring discussion point with parents is about the use of social media and how we can monitor this with our children.

The attached podcast will hopefully give some suggestions regarding TikTok and how this can be managed. nationalcollege.com/podcasts/what-parents-and-educators-need-to- know-about-tiktok

Thank you for your continued support and engagement.

Together, we can ensure a nurturing and enriching environment for our learners.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Kind Regards,

Ms. Janice Butterworth | Acting Principal
